Petal Blight was a combination of creative forces, inspired by each other. The additive synthesis of each member's discrete wave combining resulted in ambitious ideas and plans, and a storm of new music week after week for over two years.

In 2010, just after completing the EP Ars Nova, we began recording bits of each of the songs that would become the album Waking Up. Some of these songs were years old even then, and we were still writing and creating, and the dynamic of the group was still shifting. Life changes happened, as they often do.

Our energies and waves began to shift phase, until they were subtractive and destructive. All throughout the next 18 months, we still recorded on this album. These songs all meant something to us - and may mean something different by now. We worked, argued, re-worked, re-recorded, until nearly everything was done.

Nearly a year and a half passed between even that revision and opening the files again. Now, our lives have changed so much that this is really a time capsule, sent from the past. It's a reminder of some really good times, some very stressful and not so good times, and though it may not be perfect, it is truth.
